DEEP WATER JAZZ BAND Bio
Derrick meeting Daryl at the Randallstown jazz workshop, a discussion turned towards the fact that the teachers of the workshop needed a workshop of their own. A situation to learn the things they heard and desired to play but that the market in Baltimore did not provide much opportunity to present. So together with the other teachers of the workshop, Daryl on electric upright bass, Terry Koger on alto sax, Derrick Amin on piano and keyboards and Darrell Taylor on drums formed a music exploration group and set sail for Deep Water. Along the way Niko Evans joined the crew and after supporting a gig with Colie Aziza she was asked to add the vocal expression that was missing from the band. Later a promising student from the workshop Ron Lewis added his voice to that of Colie and poet Donna Lewis started writing lyrics for our instrumental (both standards and originals) songs. Deep Water’s influences are historically long and diverse going back to Duke Ellington, Dizzy and Monk, however Miles is the forward looking seer that allows them to blend the history of jazz with its future and keep it grounded.

Treat yourself to a great evening of music that's sure to please. Oh yeah, the Italian cuisine is excellent as well and the price is right! See you there!
